Eppon by Scellanis Eppon by Scellanis
So I ran a Secret Santa in :iconthedragonchallenge: and unfortunately 2 people did not respond and 1 can't finish their dragon.

:iconeppon: kindly volunteered to help out and drew 1 of the late dragons but I'm doing the other 2.

This one is for :iconeppon: based on their current Deviant ID [link] I just thought soon as I saw it that it would make a wonderful dragon, I hope ~Eppon likes it.

I really like the colours on this one; even though I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be mainly white, my brain keeps wanting to see it as silver ^^;

For the record, I really consider you a major influence on my interest in dragons, as well as my drawing of dragons. I don't have any of my dragons here on deviantart, but if I ever do submit them, I will credit you for inspiration :)

There isn't alot of drawing in your gallery so not much to go on for giving advice. I did art at school and as a hobby for years so I taught myself how to draw them by eyeballing stuff on google. Things like the dragonheart dragon and Tolkien's dragons. Don't copy existing artists on DA without asking permission. Really famous movie posters and books covers seem to be ok though. If I was doing it that way now I'd be one of those people who upload tons of pencil drawings of the dragons in the Dragonology set of books. That would be a very good way to learn assuming you always understand that you are only copying and do not claim it to be your own work because those books cover all the common types or dragon so you could find the type you like best. I mainly only draw western.

Another way to do it would be to get those how to draw dragons books and try their methods. Or tutorials on DA instead.

Lastly you can find stock of a real animal, cat, dog, horse, frog, lizard or even a bird and copy that then turn it into a dragon by adding wings or horns etc. That way gives you a good understanding of how muscles need to be for the dragon to be able to move properly. Copying existing art can always mean you copy and learn the original artits mistakes.

If you want to try the stock method you could join :iconthedragonchallenge: and have a go with the stock I pick. I only pick things I can see could be used for a dragon so if you needed help with the picture you can ask me how I thought people would use it.

Whichever option you pick remember to say you did it that way. For me it took about 6 months to get the feel of it and draw my own dragon from scratch. I'm guessing it may take you longer.
